Peter's Day
Peter's Day, held at Wantage Parish Church on 12 June to celebrate the ringing life of Peter Davies, was a successful but emotional day. The day started with a communion service led by Canon John Salter, followed by sessions of ringing ranging from call changes to surprise methods. On display were a range of photographs showing a very young Peter and Eunice to more recent times; a video of ringing at Wantage taken a few months before Peter was taken ill, and a cd was played of Peter's Radio Oxford talks, including the sessions when Peter was trying to teach Alison Booker one of the presenters. Peter's wife Eunice, children and grandchildren attended the day as well as our local MP, Ed Vaizey. Wantage ringers were ably supported by the Hanney ringers who supplied refreshments during the day, including ploughman's lunches. Although the day was mainly about ringing £250 was raised, which will be sent to the two charities selected by Eunice, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Sobell House.

Guild 10-Bell Striking Competition
The branch team came third out of six in the guild 10-bell striking competition on Saturday 28 November, our best result in recent years. For a full match report, see the guild web site.
Skittles Evening
The branch skittles evening on Saturday 14 November raised a magnificent £168 for the branch funds (£90 profit on the evening and £78 on the raffle). A big thank-you to Daphne for organising the event plus thank-you to her helpers and those that attended making it a successful and enjoyable evening.
